Joseph Earnwile and the Gods of Sin

Welcome to the world of Joseph Earnwile.

From here on a lot of stuff will be on the 18+ side of things. Proceed at your own risk.

The plot:

It is 1955, and the world has started moving again after the effects of the atom has been made publicly known. A by now much older Joseph Earnwile III has spent much of his time lately at home with his wife and son. Feeling slightly alienate by domestic life, and feeling inadequate as a father he decides to go out on one last expedition. Always fascinated by the Vikings' travels around the world, and by descriptions of Norway from travel logs and magazines, Joseph decides his last trip will go to the Land of the Midnight Sun. Little does he know, this journey will be his last...

Ideas:

• Every relic Joseph has collected in his travels will be given back to the Elder Gods, in return for a final wish, and safe return to Joseph's own realm.
• Going to the gods' realm, unable to return on his own.
• Made a prophet of sin and depravity.
• Returned to earth at the end of the game to live out his life with his family, but forever changed, and forever knowing this new world was shaped by his hand.
• Each God will have his own quest for you to finish to show your devotion to their ideals. Finishing these quests require you to fulfill the wishes of the gods' supreme priestesses.
• Fulfill all the priestesses wishes to gain the power of the gods. Gather all the gods' powers to be able to banish the olden ones forever, and make a world of your own design. Leads into "A New Life" where everyone seems to get fat...

Elder Gods:

• Gralinor - Lust and Gluttony - Blue. A fat but infinitely strong bearded man. Happy in demeanor, but fierce in his lust for everything pleasurable. Floats in space as a ball made from only the finest skins, one stitched to the other with golden thread. Every new piece covered with depictions of creatures in the throws of heat, and filled with the treasures, fineries and food of eternities within.

• Elinor - Despair and Wrath - Red. Cloaked and off-putting, with dark holes for eyes where a face should be. Looks like, and smells of, fish. Long tuberous legs carrying a mass of the blackest fabric of space time. No eyes or mouth to speak of, no up, no down, no front or back. A question of a question.

• Bolinor - Greed and Vanity - Green. Often depicted as a man with a superficial charm hard to resist. A mass of writhing tentacles. Eyes adorning its every side. A formless one of great virility and sexual prowess, only clear in its want for what is good, beautiful and infinitely corruptible.

• Sakatoth - Sloth and Hubris - Purple.  The shapeless sleeping god. A giant blob of gelatinous flesh covered in a shell with tubelike appendages. Formless and ever changing, adorned with millions of eyes on its every surface. Truly a horrific sight for any man unlucky enough to ascend the planes and gaze upon it. Many driven mad just from the look, and only the strongest returning with the new knowledge of the existence of the elder Gods. The strongest of the elders, but endlessly asleep in the cosmos, awaiting its time to take over the all that is known.

Just so it is out of the way: 

This is a text-adventure game that uses AI art and soundeffects to spice things up just that little bit. I have tried to get the UI down to a level where most people with a more modern sensibility would still enjoy it. I feel like the simplicity of this game genre is supremely well-suited to the exploration and storytelling experiences I want to share with my audience. Making you want to see, interact with and touch  everything just to see what may happen is one of the things I take pride in with my work. The genre also lets me tell the stories I want to tell without having the raw machinepower to do 3D renders and polygonal three dimensional worlds. I hope you guys will give it a try, and if you decide this game may not be for you, then maybe I'll see you again at a later time when I get to another project up and running.
