Deciding what to do...

So, here we are again. Another Jam another time, and this time it's the Gain Jam! The jam that originally got me into game design, from the website that first introduced me to my bread and butter program Quest.

My first thought: how can I make something unexpected with my limited skill-set. For some reason my brain works in that weird way where I always look for a weird angle/solution to every question or task proposed to me. So to divert expectations and give you guys something truly unexpected.

How about I do the following:

  • Remake a game instead of starting anew. No one expects and old game to become a new one!
  • Change engines to the one I am more familiar with to finish a project you guys thought was dead. No one expects the dead arising!
  • Finish the game this time. No one could see that outcome coming!

Introducing you guys to the new version of: Joseph Earnwile V and the Fat Camp

The game will include:

  • The new banner style place art you will have seen before in the latest Blinky game and Pestilence. This will use the original art from the RenPy game, modified to work within the context of this new game.
  • The same locations from the original games, and more.
  • The same basic story, but with more storylines, and a little more detail to each girl.
  • The same girls planned for the original game, and a few more that didn't make the cut in my last round of planning.
  • A new way to do the inventory based on the menu screen from the RenPy version. Not a full visual one, but something a little less cluttered than what I've used before. Especially for multiples of the same item.
  • Considering making the map clickable to make transportation between rooms easier.

There you have it, that's my plan.  Of course: there will be more twists and turns in the story to appease the Gain Jam gods. Let's see what this ends up becoming!
