Update on 0.3


Most of the coding for 0.3 is now done, and what I need to do is a general spell-check, small bugfixes and some flavor text. The 0.3 update will be the first pay to play update to this game (the usual whole dollar). You only need to pay once to keep following the project. 

As soon as the update is out and bugs are fixed, work on 0.4 will start. Plans for 0.4 includes a map for Germany, more of the mystery subplot, some fun little cameos from a certain French family (that may already have popped up in 0.3 if you know your languages or read the family tree) and to get a work system fully integrated into the game. The work system will involve a phone, a girl, a bunch of food and her car...

This update to Roadtrip Woes will include:

  • Functioning mirrors at several places in the game, now you can see yourself grow.
  • Weight stages up to level 20 (imagined to reach a maximum weight somewhere in the region of 500lbs) with a system to increase the amount of food needed as your weight climbs higher.
  • Fullness stages up to 14 with descriptors for each one.
  • The entire Denmark map with new places and people to see.
  • A new sidequest where you now have little mysteries and sidequests to tend to on top of going on the road trip. Follow the little purple flash.
  • A few new characters: some with family ties back to some of my older games, and some that will stay with you into a planned sequel to this one (check the attached image for a very small sneak peak). Those who have followed what I do on weight gaming for a while may remember a promise I made someone on there. This sequel will be the fulfillment of that promise.
  • Actual game over states you can reach if you are not careful, with more of these being added in the future.
  • The start of a system for getting drunk and having some ill effects from it. In the future this will add even more game over states to watch out for.
  • A few fixes to some bugs and oversights from version 0.2a.
  • Some things I don't even remember. I've put a lot of work into 0.3!

I estimate the release date to be sometime this weekend (hopefully early Saturday if all goes well). Hope to see you then!


Other stuff:

Some of you may also have noticed that a few of my old ideas have sputtered back to life. For now I am focusing on this game, but as my writing and coding comes along, I get little ideas and make plans for things that would fit well into other games I've been working on before my mental break. Therefore I brought them back from the dead. They are now on hold, not canceled, and some pages may see updates as new ideas and thoughts are added to the project. Some have even seen some new art being produced. For those who have paid for some of them: I am trying my best to honor my end of the bargain, but it will take me some time.

I have also reorganized (and slightly updated the names of) my games here on itch so that they are sorted into different series. Each series have been sorted into chapters to show the order they are intended to be played in. Games that does not fit with any of the series have been placed in a special "God's World" category which means they are still in the expanded universe, but may not directly relate to any others. All my games are intended to be a part of a much greater narrative.

Now, to top all that off: I have also written a first draft of my first Earnwile Universe short story. It can be found under the title "The Earnwile Chronicles" here on itch and is free to read. You will also find a more or less complete (as far as I've imagined it at least) Earnwile family tree on the same page. Check it out if you'd like.
